Byzantine Echoes: The Halki Trail

Panagia Drosiani, one of the oldest Christian churches in Europe, dating back to the 6th century, together with remarkable churches from the 11th and 12th centuries.

As you hike, your local Certified Mountain Guide will introduce you to Naxos’ geology, native plants, wild herbs, history, and traditions, revealing how the island’s landscape has shaped local life for centuries.

The trail continues to the traditional village of Kaloxylos, where you’ll visit a historic olive press and enjoy a guided tasting of carefully selected Naxian olive oils and olives. Sample extra virgin olive oil alongside unique local flavors infused with mandarin, truffle, garlic, and Naxian citron, all paired with traditional local products.

The route finishes back in Halki, completing an experience that combines nature, history, authentic local flavors, and some of the island’s most beautiful countryside.
